On 20th and 21st of June 2009 we organized dance weekend for children from children´s homes focused on stimulating their capabilities and talent. This event took place in Relaxx center in Bratislava, where children could practice different hip-hop dance styles. Children had the opportunity to meet singer Tina and rapper Rytmus and find out about their career and success. Invitation accepted children´s homes Nádej, Bernolákovo, children´s home Bratislava, Podunajské Biskupice and children´s homes from Trnava and Levice.

The idea came from difficult integration of young people from children´s homes to society. Their self-confidence and motivation to start their personal career is very low. We believe, that personal stories of successful artists can inspire them to “be what we want to be” if we are motivated and decided to follow their dream.

While working with children from children´s homes, we noticed, that for many of them, dance is the way to express themselves. That´s why we oriented the whole project on dance. Unfortunately, many kids don´t have motivation and parent authority, which means, they need to search for different personal “idols”. We believe, that discussion about positive and negative career milestones of these artists strengthened belief in themselves and motivated them to work hard.

Importance of this weekend commented also Katarína Buzgovičová, psychologist in children´s home Nádej, Bernolákovo: „Our kids will find positive examples, which will help them to pass barriers in life and strengthen qualities such as devotion and endurance.
