The project is focused on helping children prepare for their careers through temporary jobs. This project was established as a follow up to the "IT Seminars" project.

The goal of this project is to motivate and help children develop a positive relationship to work and to find a suitable job considering their personal profiles, abilities and interests. The project will be led by volunteer consultants. Their role will be to find children the most appropriate temporary job and assist them with their first interview. Also, in cooperation with the children's home psychologist they will monitor every child's "career development" and collect feedback.

Structure of the project:

  • Introductory seminar focused on the basics of searching for a job (CV preparation, information search about available jobs, labor legislation, work obligations of children, work ethics, how to keep a job etc.)
  • Analysis of every child's profile with the goal of determining which type of temporary job is most appropriate
  • Individual support and advice during job search
  • Permanent monitoring of children’s work activities, their development and career plans (other jobs, work opportunities for children who finish school etc.)
  • The project should not only help children find a job but also to keep it. It should also help them work their way towards more interesting and sophisticated temporary jobs to ultimately improve their starting position when looking for a full-time job

To date 12 children participated in the pilot project from two children's homes in Western Slovakia in cooperation with 10 volunteer consultants. In the future we plan to expand the project to more regions of Slovakia and help another approximately 40 children with their temporary job search and future full-time employment. We would like to involve 30 new volunteers.
